 About Me

Sandra K. Johnston, PhD, LPC, SAC, LMFTT, LMT

Welcome to my practice!

I believe there is a strong mind-body connection.  If an individual is battling emotional and psychological issues, there are also physical issues involved.  This led to my becoming a professional massage therapist.  I have held national and state licenses since 1994.

I have completed my doctoral education in the Department of Educational Psychology, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My major was in the Human Development, and my minor was achieved in Counseling Psychology.  In  fulfillment of my dissertation project I studied forgiveness and forgiveness therapy.  Prior to my doctoral program I earned a Master’s degree from UW-Whitewater in Counseling Education.  My thesis focused on the possible relationship between forgiveness and sexual trauma.  My undergraduate degree was earned at UW-Oshkosh in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. The results of those research projects informed my future research goals.

I hold licenses in the state of Wisconsin as a professional counselor, and and substance abuse counselor, and a training license as a  marriage and family therapist.  In addition to working in a intensive residential in-patient addiction treatment facility (Tellurian UCAN), I have been providing supervised counseling services to individuals and families who would not otherwise be able to afford them.  My goal as a professional therapist is to continue providing mental health, marriage and family therapy, and substance abuse services to clients.

My teaching experience includes:  1) graduate counseling  and psychology students (UW-Madison, UW-Whitewater), 2) high school courses (Oshkosh Christian School), and 3) community education courses for children and adults (UW-Oshkosh Extension, Marion College, Wisconsin  Indianhead Technical College, and Art/Elegance).

Finally, combining my business psychology and experiences, I am broadening my practice to include corporate and legal consultation services.
